Running Time: 120 minutes
Shannon Hartnett began her competitive bodybuilding career – and her participation in the Scottish Highland Games – in the early 90’s. Despite reasonable success in bodybuilding, she has become far more famous for competing in Scottish strength events, and has caused quite a stir by defeating all the men on some lifts, and some others in other events. In fact, for years the organization had tried to keep her from competing because she was embarrassing the men, but our staff had no problem with her, resulting in some great and varied footage of Shannon at the 2001 Games, in the gym and posing. We start with some rep-work, in the gym, as she saves her strength for the contest the next day where we had up close footage of her competing in the four events – Caber Toss (throwing a huge wooden pole, similar to a telephone poll); throwing a 28 pound weight over a high-jump type bar; throwing a 28 pound steel ball for distance; and the 16 pound “Stone Toss”. After that extended scene, the 5'8" 150 pound strong woman poses in a thong bikini and several dress items. The tape ends with a very interesting interview about her career. Physically, she was not ripped (we have plenty of those physique models!), but her muscles are functional, with very strong biceps, triceps and back, and long, lean and powerful legs. In short, we had a great view of her performance in the Games, and together with the “regular” physique posing we have a video that varies from our norm.
